Homecoming 2017 was a huge success thanks to the Sophomore Class Officers and Student Government. This year the theme was "Southern Charm". Not sure what that means? Just search "Rustic Wedding" on Pintrest and you will see Mason Jar centerpieces, sunflowers, fence rails and pallet walls. Each class had to represent a southern state for their parade float and needed to create one component out of chicken wire and tissue paper.
The Freshmen got the Friday night parade off to a great start with their representation of Texas. You could see the cowboy hats and the Texas flags waving from the back of their pickup truck. Their float also featured a large Texas longhorn steer made out of tissue paper.
Next up was the Sophomore Class Officers representing Louisiana with a Mardi Gras themed float. Their creation of a large mask, and their costumes were a hit! So were the beads they threw out to the crowd.
The Grand Ole Opry was featured on the Junior Class float as they represented Tennessee. The juniors made a cowboy hat and a guitar out of tissue paper for their entry.
Finally, the Senior Class! The Seniors were the hands-down favorite with their hilarious depiction of the state of Florida. There was so much going on with the float that you had to pay attention so you didn't miss anything.
Saturday night couples and singles attended the Homecoming dance held at the school. Students were welcomed with a luminary made out of mason jars lining the walkway to the school. Cries of amazement were heard as students entered the gym which was transformed by a dreamy rustic theme. Students danced all night and noshed on wings, BBQ pulled pork, mac and cheese and tater tots from the buffet.
To cool down from the dancing, students drank sweet tea, lemonade and water from large mason jar dispensers. A photo booth was also set up with lots of props to amuse friends and family.
As the final song played for the night, everyone agreed that Homecoming 2017 was a success.
