On Saturday, September 21, Mineola High School celebrated Homecoming. The day began at 12:30 with the Homecoming Parade, in which the Mineola marching band, color guard, cheerleaders, the homecoming court, and various students from all of the Mineola School District’s buildings walked from Mineola Middle School, down Jericho Turnpike and to Hampton Field where the 2:00 Homecoming Football game commenced between the Mineola Mustangs and Division Levittown Dragons. The stands, decorated that morning by the Mineola cheerleaders, were filled with cheering students and parents, as the Mineola mascot ran around, hyping up the crowd.
The first half ended with a Mustang lead. During halftime, the crowd was treated to performances by both the Mineola marching band and cheerleaders, each also preformed during pep rally the day prior. The football team, led by head coach Dan Guido, held there led until the end, winning the game 35-16.
