A lot of people have been worried about being in quarantine and all of the activities that have been cancelled or postponed. No need to worry because last week, all of the Columbus area schools have announced when their proms and graduation ceremonies will be. This mostly affects upperclassmen who have been extremely disappointed by Covid-19.
Columbus High School will have its Junior/Senior prom on July 31. Graduation for the class of 2020 will be on August 2. This will only happen in person if the Governor's District Health Measures can clear August 2 by July 17, 2020. If not, there is an alternative option, that would only allow graduates and their parents, and a virtual option that will be online.
Lakeview High School will have their prom on June 6th unless it is not cleared by the state by May 22nd. Their graduation date is still being determined. There is still a possibility that depending on the state of the virus these dates may be changed or may not happen at all.
Scotus Central Catholic has three possible dates for their Prom. The dates are June 13th, July 13th or July 25th. The dates will be determined once cleared by the Governor’s Distract Heath Measures. Their graduation will be held on June 27th or July 13th. Scotus will be having a senior slide show on their original graduation date which is May 10th.
With these dates being scheduled it gives hope to the high schoolers in Columbus. Especially for the class of 2020. This Covid-19 outbreak has not been easy on anyone. Hopefully this will help teenagers cope with social distancing. Knowing that there is a future for us is making me feel better in this tragedy. This is Bri Eickhoff from Anchor News.
