Spreading Positivity

Being in quarantine can be hard and depressing for some people. Many steps can be taken to cheer people up and spread hope from the safety of your home. Just because you are in quarantine does not mean you can’t be sharing some positivity.

For starters reach out to a close friend or relative, someone you have not talked to, or seen, in a while. It could be a grandparent, aunt, uncle, cousin, or best friend. Anyone who you are close with would love to hear from you whether it be via letter, phone call, or just a text, it could mean the world to someone and brighten their day up.

Another way to spread some positive vibes is to post what you are thankful for on social media. Encourage viewers to comment what they are thankful for as well. Inspire people to look at all they have to be grateful for, instead of the negative side.

A different way to spread positivity is to create rock art. It is as simple as it sounds. Paint some rocks with kind words and leave them on doorsteps and porches for your neighbors to enjoy. I can not imagine anything better than opening the door to a positive message.

If you have a sewing machine available, this one is for you. Even if sewing is not your thing, there are plenty of tutorials out there that can teach you. A list of links to help you get started can be found below. Sewing cloth masks and donating them to the hard-working nurses and doctors show that you appreciate their hard work during this time of struggle.

Finally, you can write and mail a card to a senior citizen who can no longer receive visitors due to the quarantine. This is a wonderful way to spread positivity to a stranger who needs it most. Go to this website https://www.tfaforms.com/4812172 in order to sign up. Once you sign up, you will be emailed the name and address of one or more Grandfriends so that you can create and mail letters of love, and support.

In conclusion, many things can be done to bring some positivity into this depressing situation. Just doing one five minute activity can brighten someone’s entire week. And who knows, maybe cheering someone else up will make you feel better as well.

I am a new staffer and extremely excited for this year! Other than Newspaper, I am involved in Educators Rising, Marching Band, National Honor Society, Pep Band,  Robotics, Science Bowl, Theater, and Quizbowl. Outside of school, I have two part time jobs,  I am a member of Girl Scouts, Venture Scouts, a local dance studio, and participate in a church group called Godparents. In my free time, I enjoy biking, skiing, and any other outdoor activities. I also like spending time with my family, especially my little cousins. I believe that the most important thing in life is family and love.
