The obstacles lined up,
One after another,
And another, and another,
Until the prize cannot be seen.
It can only be thought of,
It can only be imagined.
It can only be seen while sleeping,
But not with the woken eyes.
You overcome an obstacle,
But the rest seem too big,
There’s another, and another,
And they never seem to end.
You take time to reflect,
Now back to square one,
No progress done,
With everything to overcome…
You dig deeper,
The next hurdle is found,
It takes time, but you leap it,
And the first disappears too.
But you are drained,
You are tired,
You just want some peace.
But there’s another, and another,
And they never seem to end.
You take time to reflect,
Now back to square one,
No progress done,
With everything to overcome…
One day, you have enough, standing on a hill - so high
You look in the distance to see it all,
And now it all looks so small…
You overcome the first,
Leap the next,
Jump the third,
Round the fourth,
Ignore the fifth,
Run the sixth,
Hop the seventh,
Dodge the eighth,
Rush the ninth –
And skip to the tenth…
You are now at the bottom,
Of the tower of cards,
And with time and reflection,
You destroy the source.
Looking back to where you started,
You see the other obstacles disappear,
And another, and another,
Until nothing is left to be seen.
Above your head,
The tower collapses,
The foundation of your misery,
The virus of your own mind.
The debris falls to the ground,
Leaving you beaten and scarred,
But you’re alive,
You’ll heal,
For your world never seemed more clear,
As your peace is finally here.
