Many people cherish the feeling of happiness. Maybe it means getting a good grade on a test one studied hard for, getting a new puppy, or maybe just hearing a favorite song on the radio. Happiness can mean different things to different people. One might ask what the true definition of happiness is if it can be different for everyone. Technically, happiness is the state of being happy, but happiness is what one make of it. Happiness could be as simple or complex as one wants, and everyone determines the meaning of happiness differently.
When searching for happiness, one may look for immediate satisfaction. One of the most common examples of this is money. The famous quote “Money can’t buy happiness”, is one that some people live by. Others often ignore this, and continue to determine their happiness by how much is in their wallet or on their credit card. Often times, people without a lot of money understand that they do not need money to be happy. They are often happy if they have people that love them. Many people focus on immediate happiness instead of long term happiness. Long term happiness is by far more important that immediate happiness. Although everyone determines the meaning of happiness differently, some things that are known to make people have long term happiness are good health and a loving family.
When one seeks immediate satisfaction, the results do not usually last long. For example, if one was to get a raise on their paycheck, they may be happy for a few days at most. It is highly unlikely that they will be happy about this for the rest of their life. Contradically, if one was to get married or have children, it will likely make them happy for the rest of their lives. The things that make people happy for the rest of their lives are usually things that matter a lot.
People are often caught up in things that do not matter. Instead, people should focusing on happiness. This will help people live a better life overall. In the end, it will not matter if one fails a test or if one lost their game. Instead of focusing on these things, people should focus on things that do matter. The things that will matter in the end will be things like family, major accomplishments, and other things that make one happy.
Happiness has been an important part of everyone’s life since they were born. When one are little, not many understand true happiness. Often times, little children determine their happiness by how many Christmas presents they get, or how many friends they have. One might think that as we get older, we discover the true meaning of happiness. Many people do discover the true meaning of happiness, but others change their meaning of happiness from Christmas presents to money. They never discover what will truly make them happy in the end.
Throughout everyone's life, happiness is always with everyone. Even when one is having a bad day, there are always things to make them happy. They may have a bad day at work, but they will be greeted by their family when they come. They may have lost their wallet, but they were having an amazing time with their family. If one possesses true happiness, even the worst day could not take it away from them.
