--------------------------- All students will receive a copy of their second semester schedules this morning in homeroom. Study halls will be inserted into missing periods on your schedule. If you wish to pick up a class instead of a study hall, be sure to check out the EHS Counseling website for a listing of available open class options; this listed is updated regularly. If you changed your mind about a course, you need to provide a written explanation to Dr. Galen, stating why the schedule change was not made earlier, as well as rationale for the requested change. The change form (parent signature is needed) is available on the EHS Counseling website.
Students are expected to remain in selected courses for the entire term. Withdrawing from a course after the 8th class meeting will result in the student receiving a “WF” (withdrew failing) grade for each marking period as well as final grade. Please note that a “WF” along with another class failure could affect eligibility for student activities/sport

NOW OVER TO ____ WITH THE NEWS
--------------------------
NEWS INTRO VIDEO
------------------
In today’s news, the United States grew 28.3 feet wider! How, do you ask? Well, a little background, the United States has been using two different distance measurements, both called feet, for decades: The survey foot is about an eighth of an inch shorter per mile than the international foot. Now on a small scale, this doesn’t matter, but when you measure the entire country using survey feet, it amounts to being 28.3 feet thinner. So, to avoid any confusion, the government has done away with survey feet and made the U.S just a teeny bit plumper.
On this day in history in 1903, the first airplane flight occurs. Brother Orville and Wilbur Wright built and flew the one of a kind aircraft, a self-propelled, gasoline powered biplane, near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina for 12 seconds over 120 feet.

NOW BACK TO THE MAIN DESK
-----------------------
Person 1: Its that time of year again to go nuts for donuts!
Person 2: That’s right, Ephrata Student Council is running its annual Christmas Charity to benefit 6 local families this holiday season. And, with everyone’s help, we can make this a very special Christmas for these wonderful families in need this holiday season.
Person 1: Your homeroom teacher has kindly picked out an ornament with a gift on it. Your job is to raise enough money to buy that gift together as a homeroom!
Person 2: The homeroom that raises the most money, buys the most gifts, or does any combination of the two, will receive a deluxe donut party on the last day of school before Christmas break!
Person 1: A deluxe donut party has all the fixings from hot chocolate, to donuts, to Christmas cookies, to coffee, to bagels, to fruit, to juice, to… you name it you’ll have it!!! And it’s enough for the entire homeroom.
Person 2: The runner up homeroom will receive a regular donut party…. Which is just donuts.
Person 1: Third place will receive high fives from future president of the united states Mr. Marzock, which is totally better than the other prizes!!!!
Person 2: So, bring in some loose change, bring in a new gift, or do both and help out some local families this holiday season.
That's it for us today Ephrata. Have a great day!
