Joining Drama in High School can be a wonderful thing. No, not gossip drama, theatre drama. It really opens your eyes to a lot and I'm here to list a few reasons why joining is very beneficial.
Comfort Zone- If you’ve never been involved in Drama before, joining is a good way to try something new and step out of your comfort zone. It allows you to take a chance and be bold.
Friends- Joining Drama means that you’ll be working with a certain group of people for months, all to pull off one huge show. In that time you can allow yourself to make new friends and form lasting relationships while working towards the same goal.
Options- When in Drama you have options. Whether it be what character you want to audition for or if you have stage fright and still want to be a part of the group, you can do the stage crew. Which is equally important to making the show possible.
Rewarding- After months of working, you’ll finally perform the show. While bittersweet for it to end, it’s also quite rewarding. It can make you feel as though you did something for your school and the public. Also being able to tell yourself you finally did it and the whole group being proud of one another.
While Drama isn’t for everyone, it’s certainly still an experience to try. It can give you lasting memories and good times to laugh at. All while being a part of something much bigger than yourself. Which can make you a better student and person in the long run.
