In today’s CUTE news, a return to numbers in Alaskan northern fur seal population has sparked interest in scientists, especially because the cutie pies have gathered in the most unlikely of locations; on the edge of the tip of an undersea volcano. The critters can be seen today happily living their lives among sulfurous gases that characterize Bogoslof Island.
On this day in history in 1777, British General Sir William Howe repels George Washington’s American Revolutionary forces at Germantown, PA. This decisive battle would have garnered Washington Philadelphia if he had won. Instead, Washington was defeated and was forced to spend the winter in the now historic Valley Forge.
