In today’s news, solutions to the recent lanternfly infestation of Eastern United States are finally coming to fruition. Leading entomologists are suggesting that we fight fire with fire; importing another Chinese insect that is a known predator of lanternflies, a tiny wasp capable of destroying the rampant lanternfly population. Scientists are currently experimenting with the possibility of importation, but they note their efforts in quarantining the wasp in order to avoid another invasive species.
On this day in history, the signing of the U.S Constitution occurred! Regarded as the supreme law of the United States, this document came into force in 1789 and has been amended twenty seven times in American history. Seen as a revision to the failed Articles of Confederation during its time, the Constitution reaffirmed early American central power and laid the foundation for hundreds of years of United States law.
