Many times a year we forget to cherish and appreciate our parents for all that they do for us. Every year on the second Sunday in May, the United States presents a day to thank and praise our mothers for what they do best. It is a day to remember. A mother can be different for everyone, in the same way that there are endless ways to celebrate their greatness.
“I think mothers days is important because it’s important to appreciate the strong women in our life. Mother’s Day is just one day out of the year to show how much we care and appreciate all that our mothers do through the year,” Marcos Zaldaña ‘19 said.
“My mom is my best friend, she inspires me to push through obstacles and be strong. She is my biggest supporter and loves me unconditionally,” Tiani Gebauer ‘21 said.
If you are looking for a fun and simple way to show your mom how much you are thankful for her, you might try making her a special breakfast. First start by planning out what you want to make and create a list with everything you need. Then go to the store if needed to get the proper ingredients. Some examples are pancakes or waffles, bacon, eggs, and orange juice or some sliced fruit.
“Something I do for my mom is to work in the yard and help her around the house,” said Annie Flood ‘21.
A small bouquet of flowers can also be a great touch to brighten anyone’s day. Bouquets can be as simple as a fresh picked flower from the backyard or as extravagant as a bouquet designed by a florist. No matter the budget, there is always something you can do to show them you’re thinking of them. Another budget saving idea is to make and design a card. Maybe draw a picture or create a list of all the things you appreciate about them. This can be a perfect, simple, heartfelt gift used for any occasion.
