Girls Track Wins Conference Title

On Thursday May 2, the Columbus High track team traveled to North Platte for the GNAC Conference tournament. The boys placed fifth, and the girls took home the title of Conference Champions!
Here are some highlights from the girls track team.
Senior Laura Czarnick placed third in the finals 100 meter dash. Freshman Joselyn Olsen placed fourth in the 200 meter dash finals. Sophomore Trinity Tuls placed first in the 400 meter finals with a time of 1:01.53. Junior Gracie Luebbe placed second in the 800 meter finals with a time of 2:37.21. Freshman Josie Garrett placed first in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15:74.
Junior Abigail Gerber placed first in women's shot put, and Junior Osmunda Izaguirre-Reyes placed second in shot put. Taylor Umstead, Abigail Gerber, and Paige Jeffreys also placed third, fourth, and fifth in discus. Junior Jaidyn Garrett pole vaulted 13 feet, ranking first at conference. Freshman Josie Garrett placed second in women’s long jump.
The girls 4x100 relay team consisting of Juniors Kylie Wisehart and Amanda Czarnick and Seniors Sarah Micek and Laura Czarnick placed third out of six teams. The girls 4x400 relay team of Erin Smith, Elena Batenhorst, Gracie Luebbe, and Trinity Tuls placed first out of six teams.
Here are some highlights from boys track.
Junior Isiah Hoard placed fourth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.46. Junior Nick Stoeckle placed first in finals of the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14:69, and Senior Gabe Moseman placed fifth in the finals in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16:49.
The boys 4x400 relay team consisting of Caleb Mulder, Nick Stoeckle, Santiago Ramirez, and Isiah Hoard placed second out of six teams.
