NEWS INTRO VIDEO

A major fire has engulfed the medieval cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris, one of France's most famous landmarks. The 850-year-old Gothic building's spire and roof have collapsed but the main structure, including the two bell towers, has been saved, officials say. Firefighters are still working to contain the blaze as teams try to salvage the artwork stored inside. President Emmanuel Macron called it a "terrible tragedy". The cause of the fire is not yet clear. Officials say it could be linked to the renovation work that began after cracks appeared in the stone, sparking fears the structure could become unstable.
In other news,
A study has shown that ancestors of the people who built Stonehenge travelled west across the Mediterranean before reaching Britain. Researchers in London compared DNA extracted from Neolithic human remains found in Britain with that of people alive at the same time in Europe. The Neolithic inhabitants appear to have travelled from Anatolia, modern Turkey, to Iberia before winding their way north. They reached Britain in about 4,000BC.

During the school day – no student failing any class may go to one of the areas previously mentioned. Students need to get a pass to these locations as they always have, but you – the student – will have to look up your grades and prove to the teacher that you are passing everything. Teachers will not look up your grades for you. Not passing all classes, no pass to a flexible area.
After school - the lounge/café/MTS, bench areas and anywhere outside of classrooms will be completely closed down and no students will be in any of these areas after 3:30. Also, students failing any class should not be in these areas after school at all and will need to prove they are passing all classes when asked by any adult in the building. If you are failing anything, you should be in the media center studying or in ACT. After 3:30 any student still in the building must be in a classroom with a teacher for extended ACT (if available), working out during open hours in the Wellness Center, in the media center on Tuesdays or Thursdays waiting for the activity bus, or waiting for a ride in the lobby/stairs area outside the main office. Or better yet already on your way home. The building is not an afterschool hang out and anyone there after 3:30 will have to leave.

First up is Joel Potts. Throughout high school Joel has been involved in many things such as FFA, shooting with the Palmyra Rifle Team, ushering and leading music at my church, and other activities. The charity he is raising money for is called The Joseph Project. This charity provides humanitarian aid for people in Israel, where the poverty rate is very high. They help supply food, clothing, furniture, and other necessities for people. His future plans include majoring in finance at Ohio State and hopefully becoming a financial planner.
Ricky Bromirski is also in contention to win the title of Mr. Cottontail. During his time at Ephrata high school, he participated in NHS, Leo club, prom committee, and athletics such as baseball and basketball. Next year he plans to attend East Stroudsburg University to major in early childhood education. He chose make a wish as his charity to support because he has a strong passion for helping kids.
