Columbus Track Competes at Kearney

On Tuesday April 2, the girls track team placed 3rd at Bellevue East behind Papillion La Vista and Omaha Marian, but beating Millard South, Bellevue West, and Bellevue East.
On Friday April 5, the boys and girls track teams traveled to Kearney for a meet. Overall, the boys track team placed fourth out of 5 teams, beating Lincoln East by 1 point 71-70. The girls placed fifth overall with 58 points behind Omaha Marian who had 62 points.
Junior Joey Braasch placed fourth in the 400 meter run with a time of 53.75, and Sophomore Trinity Tuls placed fourth in the 400 with a time of 1:03.51. Junior Nick Stoeckle placed first in the finals for 110m 39” hurdles. He set a personal record in the prelims with a time of 14.57 seconds. Stoeckle also placed first in the 300m 36” hurdles with a time of 40.39. Both the boys and girls 4x100 relay teams placed third.
Junior Kasten Grape placed fifth and Senior Noah Brunked placed sixth in men’s Shot Put, both setting season records. Senior Paige Jeffryes placed sixth in women’s Shot Put with a distance of 34-01.00. Senior Devon Spragg placed second in men’s Discus with a distance of 162-04, setting a personal record, and Junior Taylor Umstead placed fourth in women’s Discus with a distance of 110-08.
Junior Jaidyn Garrett placed first in women’s Pole Vault with a height of 12-09.00, beating second place by two feet and two inches. Seniors Caedyn Nolan and Derek Elton placed first and second in men’s Pole Vault. Freshman Josie Garrett placed second in girls Long Jump with a distance of 16-05.5. Finally, Junior Noah Stoeckle placed third in Triple Jump with a distance of 41-11.50.
