In 2012, 3,328 people were killed in distraction-related driving accidents, and 421,000 other people were injured. On Thursday, November 11, 2016, students at Greater Johnstown High School sat down for an assembly in their school's auditorium to talk about the dangers of driving and how they can be safe drivers and safe passengers as teenagers.
They learned the dangers of distracting another person who was driving and what could really happen if they were involved in an accident.
A few days after the assembly, students were asked to take a survey asking them about what they knew before the program and what they learned from it. They were asked about how to be safe both as a driver and as a passenger.
The school and the officers in charge of the assembly stressed the importance of being safe while in a vehicle.
