The South Salem Boys Basketball team is off to the quarterfinals of the OSAA State Championships. Hosted at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center, the Saxons will play the seven seed Tigard Tigers at 8:15pm on Wednesday, March 6 to decide who will advance to the semifinals.
In their second round victory versus West Linn the Saxons, after being down 4 after the first quarter, got back on their feet and showed off their high tempo offense scoring 22 in the second quarter and giving them an eight point lead heading into the second half. This boost of scoring resulted in four players dropping double digit points in their 21 point victory.
“We’re confident and ready to go,” said Jaden Nielsen-Skinner ‘19.
The winner of this quarterfinal showdown will advance to the semifinals to play against the winner of the six seed Grant, or the three seed Jefferson. Semifinals take place on March 8, at 3:15 p.m. at the Chiles Center.
The loser of Wednesday’s game will land in the consolation bracket against the loser of Grant and Jefferson on March 7 at 10:45 a.m.
