Ephrata Mini-THON’s Valentines Dance is coming up February 9th. Although the dance this year is not being named Sadie’s, girls can still ask guys!

Remember anyone can come even if you have a date or not. So, bring a friend or a date to the Valentines Dance in support of childhood cancer! Ticket sales will be held in the cafeteria from February 4th to the 8th for $8 and $10 at the door.

Democrats have asked President Donald Trump to postpone a speech to Congress, arguing security cannot be guaranteed due to the government shutdown. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said in a letter to Trump that he should deliver the speech in writing instead unless federal agencies reopen. Trump is due to address Congress for the annual State of the Union speech on January 29th.

The first full assessment of risks to the world's coffee plants shows that 60% of 124 known species are on the edge of extinction. More than 100 types of coffee tree grow naturally in forests, including two used for the coffee we drink. Scientists say the figure is "worrying", as wild coffee is critical for sustaining the global coffee crop.
