Waking up in the morning to go to school was never something I enjoyed doing, and I personally don't know many people who do. Despite this fact, all throughout my high school career it's something I've tried to do to the best of my ability. Being in high school has taught me many important things, and changed many things about me as a person and I don't think I'm entirely aware of them all.
One massively important skill I was able to improve would be patience. Patience is a skill I honed by doing simple things like listening to lessons and then applying them to my classwork. I also use it when interacting with my peers which has made me a more tolerant person.
Another important life skill I learned in high school is how to be a more outgoing individual. I acquired this skill by speaking up and participating more actively in class. This is not something that was able to do with the help of teachers alone. Making more friends and participating in extra curricular activities like Youth and Government, Business Honor Society and sports are some of the biggest reasons.
These are skills I value dearly and they are only few of many. Being in an environment full of people who have the same desire to learn as I do and teachers who teach me so much more than school work has sculpted the person I am today. I go to school and learn so many things that not only make me a better and more knowledgeable person but skills that I will use for the rest of my life. Being a senior it is hard to fully grasp the idea that my days left in high school are numbered and I will soon be starting a new chapter. Looking back I finally understand the cliche "it went by so fast" because it really did!
