On Nov. 12, winter sports started and Swimming was one of them. Last week consisted of hard workouts for the Discoverers, leading to them swimming a total of 9,000 yards last week only!
All last week the Discoverers were put to test to see if they had what it takes to be a part of the 2018-2019 swim team. On Nov. 17 the swimmers had time trials, where the Discoverers were put to the test. According to the times recorded, it would then indicate placement in Varsity or Junior Varsity team.
The Discoverers started off the season with a rough start. The heaters in the aquatic center that keeps the water warm are broken; leaving swimmers to swim in cold water. When asked how the season has been so far Coach Kari Weihl says “The swimmers have been swimming in a cold pool but that doesn't stop them from working hard”. This shows the determination and hard work the swimmers are putting to reach their goals this season.
The first swim meet will be on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018 and the Discoverers are looking forward to compete. To all swimmers good luck on Thursday and as always go Discoverers!
