On Monday, November 19th, a representative from AFS and the Speedwell Foundation will be in school periods 5,6 and 7 to meet with students interested in study abroad. AFS supports students who want to spend a year abroad—either during high school or post high school as a GAP year. There are scholarships available. This is an amazing opportunity to spend time in the country of your choosing. These are not just travel abroad experiences to Germany or Spain, but there are many choices of countries to choose from. There will also be an Ephrata student there, Destiny Ovensen-Stauffer, to share her experience in Germany last year. If you are interested and would like to sign up, please see a language teacher in the building before Friday to get your name on the list.. Language teacher rooms are all located between rooms 128 and 138 on the first floor.

The Cloister FFA is proud to announce the results of fall regional CDEs. Our chapter was very well represented on Tuesday, competing against students from other chapters in Schuylkill, Lebanon, Berks, Bucks, Cumberland, and Chester counties in forestry and horse evaluation. They’ve been studying and preparing since the beginning of the year for this event. In forestry they identified different trees, samples of lumber, and forestry tools, and measured tree volume using Biltmore sticks and unknown distances using pacing. In horse evaluation, they placed four classes of horses and identified different color markings and hoof diseases. Without further ado, here are their results:
Forestry
8th in the county, freshman Raina Foran
4th in the county, sophomore Jansen Balmer
3rd in the county, junior Genna Ellis
2nd in the county & 6th overall out of 35, sophomore Lily Moore
Horse Evaluation
37th in the county, freshman Lindsey Murphy
22nd in the county, junior Carsyn Greene
19th in the county, junior Maelene Riehl
And last but not least, 1st in the county & 2nd overall out of 127, junior Katelyn Sauder
If you see any individuals in the hallway, give them a fist bump to help celebrate their accomplishments!

Each year, 6.5 million pets find themselves abandoned at U.S. Animal Shelters. Of those 6.5 million, a staggering 1.5 million are euthanized after staying in a shelter for only a month in a half. There will be a Humane League Donation Request from November 13th- November 20th in the cafeteria during lunch. At that time, feel free to donate money, toys, or dry pet food. Your donation will help alleviate the stress of acquiring daily necessities that these animals depend on. After dealing with a heartbreaking past, shelter animals are often left traumatized. With new toys and fresh food, it gives these broken souls another chanced to enjoy life again. We can help end their suffering. Save a life and Donate Today!
