Sep 25, 2016 Colin Kaepernick was alone in his early protest. Kaepernick started sitting down during the National Anthem to protest police brutality and racial injustice. He eventually began kneeling for the National Anthem and sparked a huge following who did the same thing.
Kaepernick hasn't played in the NFL since 2016 and it is now 2018. He used to play for the San Francisco 49ers. He has been released from the 49ers and hasn't been picked up ever since. He thinks it’s because he kneels for the National Anthem.
President Trump attacked all NFL players protesting during the National Anthem. A lot of players have started to join Kaepernick. Trump told his followers on twitter to boycott the the NFL. Many of his teammates and players from other teams also joined Kaepernick. Trump also says to players that protest during the National Anthem to go find another country.
Nike has made Kaepernick the face of Nike, and a lot of people are upset with Nike now. And people that are upset with Nike started burning Nikes products. Also they started cutting up shirts, socks and a lot of other products. People that are fine with Kaepernick as the face of Nike say Nike doesn't care that people are destroying the product that they have already paid for.
Trump says that Nike’s Kaepernick ad is sending a terrible message. He also says that there is no reason for Nike to be using Kaepernick in their marketing campaign. Nike’s campaign is believe in something. The advertisement is a black and white picture of Kaepernick and in white letters “Even if it means sacrificing everything.”
