On Monday, the Ephrata Quiz Bowl Team traveled to Lampeter Strasburg for their second match. They emerged with a 3 games to none victory, with the game scores being 370 to 135, 335 to 120, and 285 to 125. Ephrata is now 2 and 0 in matches, 6 and 0 in games, and is ranked fourth in the 23 team Lancaster Lebanon League.

Brazil's far-right President-elect Jair Bolsonaro will merge the ministries of agriculture and the environment, an aide says, in a move which critics say could endanger the Amazon rainforest. Bolsonaro's future chief of staff, Onyx Lorenzoni, announced the new "super ministry" as details of the new administration began to emerge. The controversial new Brazilian leader is supported by the agribusiness lobby. A former environment minister tweeted that the move was "tragic".
On Twitter, Kanye West claims he's being used to spread messages he doesn't believe in. He has been a vocal supporter of President Trump but this decision appears to center around a campaign he was linked to known as Blexit. Run by Conservative commentator Candace Owens it encourages black Americans to quit the Democratic party. She claimed the musician had designed clothing for the campaign, something which the rapper has now denied.
On this day 1892, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, by Arthur Conan Doyle, was published. The book was the first collection of Holmes stories, which Conan Doyle had been publishing in magazines since 1887.

In sports results, girls soccer lost 2-1 last night vs Central Dauphin. They will play again on Saturday to determine if they will move on into the PA state tournament.

On Monday Nov. 5th, Conestoga Valley High School will be hosting their 45th Annual College Night from 6-8pm. There will be over 200 colleges, trade, nursing, technical and business schools represented. In addition to the schools, there will also be seminars on how to choose a college, and financial aid. This event is perfect for freshmen, sophomores and juniors as it’s never too early to start planning. Information booklets are available in the Counseling Office.
Be sure to tell your parents and add this event to your calendar…Nov. 5th, the CV College Fair. If you have any questions, see your counselor asap.
