The Discoverers made their way to Districts on Thursday, Oct. 11. The teams competing against the Discoverers were Aurora, Lincoln Pius, Beatrice, Norris, Seward, Crete, and York.
The Discoverers had the weather on their side that day. The weather was perfect for running. It was sunny with 52 degrees with no wind.
The boys had a great day. Four of the boys ran their fastest time of the season. The boys finished third as a team and qualified to go to state.
The boys had some spectacular finishes. In ninth place with a time of 17:24, senior, Lucas Miller. Right behind him, sophomore, Joe McFarland with a time of 17:26. Close by, junior, Douglas Davidchik in thirteenth place with a time of 17:34 . Shortly after him, junior, Roman Ramirez in nineteenth with a time of 17:54. Also, some great finishes by, sophomore, Abel Leon in 26th place with a time of 18:15; near him, senior, Antonio Jimenez placed 33rd with a time of 18:35. Great job boys!
The girls placed seventh as a team and unfortunately did not make it to state. However, they gave the competition their best and put forth their best effort.
Leading the girls freshman Alex Freshour with a time of 22:23. Placing 31st freshman Jenna Warner with a time of 22:36. Not far away, junior Gracie Luebbe with a time of 22:48. Behind her, junior Emily Hall placing 37th with a time of 22:53. After her was sophomore Beatriz Garcia placing 38th with a time of 22:53.
We wish the Discoverers good job and good luck to the state qualifiers!
