The final season is coming to an end for seniors on the boys tennis team. They have shared many laughs and created new memories. For some of them, this is their last year ever playing tennis. For others, this is just the end of their high school career. With this being the last year of their high school tennis experience, there are many bittersweet feelings from these seniors.
Coden Prokopec
Coden has been in tennis for all four years of high school. He said the best thing about being a senior tennis player is being able to see how far he has come. Coden said senior night went well and described it as a ¨nostalgic, yet exciting experience at the same time.¨ He would like to participate in tennis throughout college, whether that will be on a team or just for fun. Coden said that Coach Bethune has pushed him the most throughout his experience. He was encouraged to get better and not give up. Coden´s advice for the younger players is to ¨not give up.” A fun memory Coden shared from the season was the ¨Breadstick Challenge¨ at Fazoli's. This challenge was to eat your entire meal plus at least ten breadsticks along with it.
Zachary Medinger
This was Zach's first year playing tennis. He said the best thing about being a senior tennis player was the new experiences. He said that at senior night, it finally struck him that this was his last year. The seniors are always looked up to as leaders, and now it was his turn to be one of the leaders. He doesn't plan on participating in tennis in college. Zach said that his coach has pushed him to do his best throughout the season. His advice towards younger players is to “Keep trying pretty hard to learn the steady motions. They will eventually come to you.” Zach said that he enjoyed getting to know the team at practices.
Anibal Grajeda-Rodriguez
This year was Anibal’s first year of playing competitive tennis, but he has been playing since sophomore year. His coaches and his opponents push him to do better than before. Anibal would like to continue playing tennis when he is in college. A funny memory from Anibal’s season was when he said the wrong score, corrected it while serving, and as a result, missed the serve. His advice for younger players is “Just listen to your couches and try your best”.
Best of luck in your future, senior boys tennis players. You have had a season full of memories and laughs. Good luck throughout the rest of high school and wherever life takes you.
