Serving Up With Boys Tennis

Over half  the season has gone by with several meets for the boys tennis players. The boys are working hard to finish out the season strong and be prepared for what is yet to come. The goal for each meet is the same; keep improving and be prepared for Conference.

The boys had an invite in Papillion on Sept. 17. Adam Kamrath, a junior at Scotus Central Catholic, played four matches. He ended that day with a score of 2-2. Along with Kamrath, juniors Cole Wilcox of Columbus High School and Conner Wiehn of SCC both ended the day with a score of 2-2. Overall, the boys team finished 18 out of 24 that day.

The next invite for the team was held on Sept. 22 in Hastings. Everyone on the team went home with at least one win. Kamarth ended the day with a score of 3-1. He received third place in the meet, setting a new score for the tennis team. The team finished fifth out of eighth in the Hastings invite.

The latest dual the boys played was on the Sept. 24 against York. Sophomore Colin Flyr of Columbus High felt that he and his partner played a nice doubles match. However, they lost this dual 8-3. Sophomore Austin Pick of Columbus High felt that he and his partner also played well. They lost their match 6-1. The team overall lost the duel against York 0-9.

Coach Bethune feels that the team needs to learn from their mistakes. They address their mistakes at practice in order to improve.

¨At each of the meets, the team had good footwork. They could work on their communicating skills during the doubles matches,¨ said Bethune.

Good luck to the boys tennis team as they prepare for more upcoming meets.
