Lead Times from September 5

At Columbus High, "Lead time" provides students with the opportunity to try out a range of activities -from athletics to academics. The popular lead times fill up fast so you better sign up early.

One popular lead time that students enjoy is Fan Fiction writing. This lead time is led by Mr. McDonald. He chose this lead time because it gives students an opportunity to express themselves and show their creative side when writing. Mr. McDonald said that he would like to change the session to an AB workshop. He hopes that this will give students more time to write and share.

Another popular lead time was playing volleyball with Ms. Otten. She said that this lead time was very successful. The students got a chance to be active and have fun! Ms.Otten hopes to be able to do this lead time again sometime.

An academic lead time that students could have done was “Sublimation of Carbon Dioxide (CO2)” with Ms. Peck. In this lead time, students got to experiment with dry ice. Ms. Peck felt that this session went very well. She enjoyed watching the students experiment with something they may have heard of but never dealt with before.

An activity lead time that students could have done was see how well they know their best friend. This lead time was lead by Mr. Baue. He thinks that it went very well and the students enjoyed participating in it. Mr. Baue would like to do this again but with different questions.

A final example of lead time that you could have signed up for was playing Mafia with Ms. Singleton. Mafia is a card game where you have to figure out who commited the crime. The first session was a learning experience and the second one she felt better prepared. She still thinks that she is will do two sessions so it is easier to play more games are able.

These are just some of the opportunities that Lead Time offers you. With so many to choose from, why not try something new.

I am a returning staffer and extremely excited for this year! Other than Newspaper, I am involved in Cross Country, Marching Band, Swim team,  and National Honor Society. Outside of school,  I am a member of Girl Scouts, Venture Scouts, and participate in my local Youth Group. I also enjoy traveling to go spend time with my family. If  I could travel anywhere in the world I would go to Paris, France.
