Cancer has a major impact on the society of the United States today. It is recognized worldwide to be a major health problem. Cancer is a systemic disease with various causes, some of which may include a poor diet, toxin exposure, nutrient deficiencies and to some extent genetics.
The average number of deaths caused from cancer per year are about 590,000. Studies showed that the average male dies from lung, bronchus, prostate, colon, and rectum cancer. On the other hand the average female dies from lung, bronchus, breast, colon, and rectum cancer.
According to the website cancer.gov in “2018, an estimated 1,735,350 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in the United States and about 609,640 people will actually die from the disease.”
Cancer isn’t an illness that is simple to treat. It takes many long hours, days, weeks, months, and even maybe years to beat cancer. Most of the time cancer is inherited by a close family member or some behaviors you created in your everyday life which can make the cancer progress even faster.
Behavior and environment l can sometimes trigger changes in the body’s cell that push them into the cancerous state.
There isn’t a specific group of people that cancer targets. It can be someone walking down the street or someone who’s acting on your tv screen. Ben Stiller appeared in the animal movie “Zookeeper” and “The Night at the Museum”. He was struggling to fight cancer and after treatment test declared him cancer free in September.
The most common and most invasive cancer is found in the lungs. The estimated amounts of deaths from lung cancer is 154,050. Cancer can be found in anyone no matter the age, sex, height, weight; it does not matter.
The treatment process can be a very long and dreadful process to deal with. The different ways of treatment are surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy.
Surgery can have multiple outcomes either removing the cancer or causing it to become worse. The type of cancer a person has , what stage the cancer is at, and the person’s overall well being will determine whether the person should have surgery and whether it will work to help treat them.
Chemotherapy is what most cancer patients go through. Chemotherapy uses chemicals. While trying to fight the cancer cells it may damage other cells throughout a person’s body.
During radiation, the things that break up the DNA inside of the cancer cells are different forms of rays (gamma rays, electron beams, or protons). The breaks inside of the cells keep the cancer from growing. The radiation will also make a person beyond drained.
The targeted therapy is a form of therapy which uses drugs but it is also different from the traditional type of therapy. This therapy isn’t used as frequently as maybe the chemotherapy is.
Cancer is a very very scary illness. This illness ruins many lives whether you’re the one who’s sick or a close family member or friend. Even if a person is diagnosed with cancer, there is always hope to get better and there are many different types of treatment . So don’t ever give up and always keep pushing.
