The President has opted to withdraw the United States from peace negotiations with North Korea and has officially cancelled the peace summit that was to be held in Singapore that was currently scheduled for June 12th. The President primarily cites insults made against vice-president Pence as being the central cause for American withdrawal from the summit. The President’s decision has been criticized both domestically and abroad. North Korea has stated it is ‘ready to talk at any time,’ should the United States decide to return to the negotiating table.
On this day in history, the first Star Wars movie, “A New Hope”, hit American theaters and instantly made international stars out of its actors and became a pop culture sensation overnight. The movie grossed $800 million dollars worldwide and won a total of seven Oscars. Part of the magic was the groundbreaking special effects and the story that everyone knows today. Today there are TV series, toy lines, video games and other products that bring this galaxy far, far away to life.
