Attention Junior and Sophomore homerooms.  Please take 20 seconds to vote for next year’s class treasurer.  The polls for treasurer are open from 7:30 AM until 2:30 PM today ONLY.  This is your chance to elect your classmates that you would like making decisions for your class.  Logon to Schoology and you should have received a message with a link to the online election this morning.  You may only vote once and may only vote for members of your specific class.  If you have any questions about the election, please see Mrs. Schubert in room 209, Mr. Geyer in room 129 or Mrs. Lesagonicz in room 101.  With a large quantity of students running, especially for next year’s senior class officers, every vote counts.  Take the time and vote NOW!

Hey students and staff.  What are you doing tonight from 7 to 8 PM?  Well, if you want to be like the cool kids, you’ll be tuning in to WGAL TV 8 to watch the finals of the BrainBusters competition.  The field has been whittled down from 38 teams to just 2, Hempfield and our own Ephrata Quiz Bowl team.  Watch tonight to see if we can win the $5,000 grand prize or if we’ll settle for the still amazing total of $3,000.  None of the cool kids would dare miss it.

North Korea has referred to Vice President Pence’s remarks as ‘stupid’ after he suggested that North Korea “may end like Libya” if they refuse to cooperate in peace talks. This came after North Korea suddenly and seemingly without reason reversed their several month long trend toward diplomacy. The peace negotiations with Kim Jong-un reportedly fell apart after he was asked to surrender his nuclear weapons, stating that the North refused to denuclearize unilaterally. This could be a great detriment to peace talks currently scheduled for June.

After fourteen years of construction, the Brooklyn Bridge opened on this day in 1883. For the first time, the cities of New York and Brooklyn were finally connected. Designed by John Roebling, an expert in steel suspension engineering, it was the largest suspension bridge built to date. Thousands of Brooklyn citizens and New Yorkers turned up for the opening ceremony, and the bridge was dubbed “the eighth wonder of the world”

Come out to the War Memorial Field TONIGHT for a rematch of the Lancaster Lebanon finals where the baseball team takes on LS again to move on in the district playoffs. Ephrata won the last match up 9-6.

There will be a mandatory pre-summer meeting for all students who signed up for AP US History next year on WEDNESDAY, MAY 30 at 2:35 in Room 123.  The purpose of this meeting is to introduce the APUSH course and  overview summer assignments.  Please make every effort to attend or see Mrs. Mellinger before next Wednesday if you have an academic conflict at that time.

Due to the construction starting immediately after school lets out, any items on the lost and found table after June 8th 2018 will be discarded. Please check the table if you think you have been looking for something. This also pertains to all items found during custodian locker clean out. Make sure to clear your lockers before you leave for the summer.
