Last week I interviewed assistant principal Mrs. LaMonds here at FHS. She has worked here for 20 years and this is her fifth year being assistant principal.
The main purpose of her job is to evaluate teachers, including helping them with any issues they are having, helping improving their teaching, and supporting them in all aspects of their jobs. She also works with students and their attendance. She contacts parents if their child isn't attending school regularly.
When I asked what the most difficult part of her job was she told “Students that have a bad environment or home that she can not change or fix”. She sympathizes with these kids also saying that most of them have valid reasons for not making the best decisions.
At the end of the interview I asked what her favorite part of her job was and she simply said “Kids”. She loves working with them and even said when she became assistant principal not working with kids as much was hard.
After interviewing Mrs. Lamonds the thing I realized the most is that she loves working with kids and her main goal is to help them in any way she can. She has a very big heart and we are very lucky to have someone like her as an administrator here at FHS.
