Don’t want to stay home for the winter? Check out these top  three vacation spots. The first is the Aurora Winter Train ride on the Alaskan Railroad, with excursions  on weekends and occasionally midweek. The Aurora Winter Train travels from Anchorage to Fairbanks in about 12 hours, and includes stops to Talkeetna and Wasilla. Take a chance and experience the winter wonderland that is Alaska.

A visit to New York  is another great option, but don't get it mixed up with New York City. Upstate New York has many winter resorts that let you have fun in the snow. I know what you're thinking. Why spend money to go somewhere and play in the snow when I can stay home? Although you may have a point, the real question is why not? Last, but certainly not least, is San Antonio, Texas. Winter is also the perfect time to visit the diverse natural landscapes this state has to offer, or to just enjoy the warm weather.
