The Bio-med Program allows many opportunities for their students. From hands on activities to listening to guest speakers, bio-med students gain much useful knowledge. Mrs. McIntyre's Human Body System's class just completed learning about the eye. In addition, Mrs. McIntyre's cousin, Alyssa Harris, OD came to Farmington High School. Dr. Harris grew up in Desloge, Missouri and completed her undergraduate studies at Truman State University in Missouri. She then graduated from Optometry School at the University of Missouri St. Louis and began the journey by doing her residency in ocular disease at the VA hospital in Marion, Illinois. Dr. Harris relocated to Wasilla, Alaska and works at Wolf Eye Care Center. The HBS students got to take a look at the eye and have Dr. Harris thoroughly explain to them about the functions and problems that tend to occur. Dr. Harris explained her job duties, what she had to do to get there, and told the class to stick to their dreams no matter what it may be.
"The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand. "- Vince Lombardi
