Runway trends vs. Street trends
By: Madison Canale
Runway tends usually do not make it into everyday street wear. Sometimes, the general public only sees runway fashion at award shows because brands want their new designs to be seen. The fashion industry has devised many interesting designs and outfits. At award shows, celebrities tend to take the adventurous route with their dresses, going from a normal black dress to a butterfly dress is not unusual. “Ugly is attractive, ugly is exciting. Maybe because it is newer,” designer Miuccia Prada said.
Street wear is more casual and comfortable. Many street trends are more wearable then the runway trends, but they can also be cute, comfortable, and casual. Street fashion can consist of jeans, leggings, tee shirts, sweatshirts, sneakers. not many people would want to wear runway fashion everyday.
Most of the street wear inspiration comes from different places. They usually originate from New York or LA, but some get their inspiration from different places. For example the top fashion countries are Italy, France, Spain, United Kingdom, Brazil, Japan, Sweden, Singapore, Netherlands.
“Even street wear mainstays like Supreme have been crossing oversee recent collaborations Adam Kimmel and Thom Browne as proof,” according to Nick Grant at complex.com.
To conclude runway fashion should stay on the runway and street wear should roam free. Just remember that all fashion is different and everyone has their own style.
