Knights GBB Mid-Season Recap

Girls Basketball for Farmington High School is in full swing as they are currently in the midst of their season. With guards Alyson Tucker and Macey Pauls leading the offensive charge and forwards Claire Busse and Zoe Johns cleaning up the mess down low, the Knights as of January 17, are sitting at the record of 7-6 before going into conference play. So let’s backtrack and recap from the beginning up until this point.

November

The season started on November 21st against the Jackson Indians that resulted in a 56-23 loss, but the team was able to bounce back six days later on the 27th in a 61-39 win against the Hillsboro Hawks. The ladies end the month of November at .500 with the record of 1-1.

December

December started off with two tough losses against Oakville (57-36) and North County (45-44), but things got hot afterwards as the Knights would go on a four game win streak and have a good showing in the Rockwood Summit Christmas Tournament. The winning streak started off with a home opener 66-45 win against the Arcadia Valley Tigers. Macey Pauls showed off her ability to shoot the ball from deep during the AV game. Win number two came against Desoto (61-38) and three was earned by beating Sikeston (60-49), proving doubters that this team can contend. Win four was a close one against Seckman, coming out on top 43-39. Four wins later and the Knights are now at the record of 5-3. The win streak came to an end with a tough 63-33 loss to Sullivan. Things would turn back around quickly as the girls found their way to the Championship Game in the Rockwood Summit Christmas Tournament, topping Soldan (59-30) in the first round and Summit in the second round (57-41). Although the girls would come out the tournament at 2nd Place, they showed they can compete at a high level. The Knights would end December with a record of 7-5.

January

That competitiveness didn’t stop as they took on number 8 ranked Dexter Bearcats on January 4th, putting on a neck-to-neck show in the 74-68 loss at home. Yes, it was a loss, but the upside to that game was that it truly showed that Farmington was a team opponents had to work to beat.

Present Day - January 17, 2018

The Knights head into conference play against school rival North County Raiders. Farmington looks to tie the season series up at 1-1 after January 17th. Look for guards Alyson Tucker and Macey Pauls do damage from long while forward duos Claire Busse and Zoe Johns own the paint. Gametime for Varsity GIrls is set for 7:30 PM inside Farmington Field House.
