Robert E Lee will be well represented this year by junior Rachel Christian’s and senior Noah Pelletier at Woodrow Wilson's Presidential Library’s (WWPL) annual leadership conference. I happen to be an alum of the winter long program, and benefited a lot from the vast opportunities provided. Every year students from around the area are invited to apply; and attend the program, which gives students the chance to learn etiquette skills, listen to guest speakers, and spend time with other students who are leaders in the classroom and community. The program consists of 4 days, the first day our Leemen learned skills on interviewing for colleges and jobs, they then got to represent Woodrow Wilson in the annual Veterans Day parade. Speaker topics include “Gender Roles in Leadership”, “Speak Up! Finding Your Voice for Leadership”, and “College Admissions 101”. I can personally attest to the tools I learned being useful in my college application process. Students are given an opportunity to serve by volunteering at the WWPL’s open house, they will spend 2 hours helping with games for kids, and directing guests. The day I benefited the most from is the trip to D.C where students tour The Capitol, Library of Congress, and The National Cathedral. For Leemen who wish to serve and be leaders this is an opportunity I strongly recommend!
