LAS VEGAS- An attack near Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino caused the death of at least 50 people and injured  more than 400. This mass shooting led to the chaotic fleeing of people trying to survive.

The three-day country music festival was disrupted by a gunman, 64-year-old Stephan Paddock,  standing on the 32nd floor firing at the crowd below. Jason Aldean was performing when loud shots were heard around the whole venue. All sound and motion stopped as the confused crowd looked for the cause of interruption. More shots were fired which led everyone to scatter and search for cover. According to Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo, “..he is dead currently. He has been identified. He is a local resident..” Lombardo also claimed Paddock was not known to law enforcement in Las Vegas. SWAT teams invaded the upper floors of Mandalay Bay, closed in the floor of the active shooter, and concluded Paddock held 10 rifles and killed himself prior to the entering of SWAT.

Over 400 people were taken to hospitals using vehicles of people who attended this festival. One lady, anonymous, allowed the injured into her truck and took them to get help.

According to reports, authorities found 19 firearms, explosives, several thousand rounds of ammunition, and some electronic devices. More rounds of ammunition and material to make explosives were found in his vehicle. 23 weapons were found in the hotel room in which he had been staying in since September 28th.

New evidence was found and an interview took place with Sheriff Lombardo. “...Paddock intended to survive and escape…”, He stated. Paddock rented another apartment overlooking another music festival that took place in the city the previous weekend. Claims were made by Lombardo stating Paddock was not the only one involved with the shooting. According to a WJAC report, “Sheriff Lombardo said police found 10 one pound containers of tannerite, two 20 pound containers of tannerite, and 1,600 rounds of ammunition along with an unknown quantity of ammonium nitrate inside Paddock's vehicle.” He also said with the amount of weapons, explosives, and other dangerous materials, Paddock could have been planning this attack for years.

CNN reporter Stephen Collinson addressed the claims of President Donald Trump and his take on the shooting. “What happened is, in many ways, a miracle.” He states which turns heads for many people who have heard this statement. He began to explain how “..the police department, they’ve done such an incredible job.”

Taylor Harrity was willing to discuss her take on this current event.

“How do you believe situations like these are affecting this country?”

“There’s always something bad going on. We are trying to help with the recent hurricanes but now we have to help those in the shooting. There is not enough good people in this world to fix it.”

“What were your thoughts when you first heard about this attack?”

“I felt bad for all of the people who got hurt. I also feel bad for the shooter because he must have had a reason but I don’t know what it is.”

While the scene is still under investigation, the number of those injured/dead are still rising. To help the survivors in need, please donate blood at these local services in Nevada:
