"We are all connected by the Internet, like neurons in a giant brain."
- Stephen Hawking
The world is manifestly full of problems. Problems which range from nuclear weapon proliferation to contaminated water systems in small towns like Flint, Michigan . However, as someone who has a firm interest in a medical profession, it concerns me to see that over 119,000 people are on the United Network of Organ Sharing, or UNOS, organ transplant list, but only 30,000 people receive organs each year. The UNOS transplant list grows each year. As an organ donor myself, I hope to see in the future that new technology will be progressed to the point that by the time of my demise, my organ donor status will be a mere memory of the past. A first step I would take to achieve a solution would be to propose that the government allocate grants toward applied and basic research. Afterwards, that would be converted over to clinical studies, after proper data has been collected. Furthermore, raising awareness about this significant topic is a key element for solving this bewildering puzzle. Educating a topic that is not well conversed about in society is a key element in order to enlighten the public and gain support. This issue has remained a complication to the medical community for years. Be that as it may, with the promise of the advancement of technology underway, a resolution should appear in the time ahead.
