After much hard work, SHS Key Club’s Relay For Life Team has been able to raise about $700 dollars. They are excitedly hoping to exceed a goal of $1,000 before Relay For Life on June 17th.
Relay for Life is a 24 hour event which raises money in support of the American Cancer Society. Participants have alternating team members walking on the track throughout the event. Everyone else can participate in games and fun activities when not walking.
SHS Key Club has held many fundraisers in support of Relay for Life, such as T-shirt sales, a local Wendy’s Night, a dress down day, and delicious chocolate covered strawberry sales! There are currently 12 team members.
If you’d like to help the cause, the Relay For Life Team is now open to any Stroudsburg High School student. Students aren’t required to be a Key Club member to join this Key Club sponsored team.
Each member has a certain number of responsibilities. This includes working tables for Relay Sales outside of lunches, participating in fundraisers and Relay events, and coming up with new and exciting fundraising ideas. Members are also welcome to attend overall team meetings on the first thursday of every month at the Saint Matthews Church in East Stroudsburg.
The Relay for Life event will be held from 10:00 am June 17th to 10:00 am June 18th at East Stroudsburg University. It is the “Relay of the Greater Pocono Area” which is only one Relay event out of many.
If you would like to join the team you must register online by clicking on the link below, and continue by pressing “Join Our Team.”
