The Saxons Girls Soccer team has a new coach lined up for next season.Tillerman Kroon, otherwise known as “Coach K” was a successful soccer player for Corban University in his college years. In the meantime, he has found multiple coaching positions within the Corban program.
“I played for Corban, garnering 1st team all-conference awards twice and Conference Defensive MVP once. After I finished playing I joined the coaching staff for three years. I served as the Recruiting Coordinator and Head Men’s Reserve Team Coach during my time with them,” Kroon said.
Coach K has made an appearance at South with other coaches in the PE department, and is familiar with South’s culture and the importance it places on sports.
“I worked in the PE department at South last year, and was impressed with the staff and students. I enjoyed my time learning under mentors Matt Leichty and Rick Lacey, and when the position became available I jumped at the opportunity to become a part of a school with a history of excellence in sports and academics,” Kroon said.
Kroon has big plans in store for his team in the upcoming season. He puts a massive emphasis on individual success on and off the field to work towards team goals, and he is excited to get to coach a team with the kind of energy and drive to compete that the Saxons have.
“I look for players that want to help the team. Everyone has different skill sets and abilities, but the people that ask what can I do to help the team today are invaluable,” Kroon said.
“My main goal as a coach is empowering the girls to be successful on and off the field. The commitment these girls have to the program is exciting. Already they are eagerly anticipating the season. This team clearly is hungry to grow and improve, and that motivates me to do everything I can do to help them.”
