As of Mar. 29 Club Penguin will shut down. In its place, Disney is launching “Club Penguin Island”. They are no longer allowing people to sign up for the online interactive game, but paid members can continue to play until the shutdown. Club Penguin has been around for 11 years, so many dedicated players have taken the shutdown severely. “I think it’s terrible. That was a childhood game that i used to play and I’m kind of sad to see it go”, said Jose Mendez ‘18.
Disney is allowing people to pre-register for Club Penguin Island but the membership price is unknown as of now. The Club Penguin team has been hard at work over the past few years to create “Club Penguin Island.”
“With this next chapter, we will be launching an amazing new product, Club Penguin Island, with new features and gameplay, making it more fun than ever. We have incorporated a lot of the ideas we have received from our fans and made a brand new game,” the company responded.
Club Penguin will be missed by its fans, but they can all look forward to the exciting new adventures in Club Penguin Island come March.
