Junior, Sadie Stott, has always been involved with sports; however, by age four she made the commitment to an equestrian lifestyle. As an elementary schooler, Stott was told by her father: “anything but horses,” yet that only further fueled her desire. Now, Stott spends roughly two and a half hours a day riding. She also competes in regular Hunter Jumper and Equitation shows all over the state of Virginia on the weekends. This has been a regular part of her schedule since Stott joined the IEA (Interscholastic Equestrian Association) and began working with the UVA equestrian coach. Her participation in the program allowed Stott to make contacts and gain experience with intercollegiate and interscholastic riders. Being around this level of equestrianism inspired Stott to stick with riding and continue working until she reaches her goal of placing first at Nationals this year. Stott just recently competed with her barn at the Regional competition at the Chatham Hall School and collectively received first place. She is looking forward to going back to the National Competition this year to improve her second place finish from last year.
