An Inspiring Educator
By Allyssa Bostic
Jennifer Goss is a phenomenal history and Holocaust teacher here at Lee. I have had the pleasure of having her as a history teacher for two years now. Jennifer Goss has received numerous awards for her extraordinary teaching. She has received the Fellowship for Holocaust in D.C, the Learner Fellowship at Columbia, and several more. She was also recently awarded a Dawbarn Award for encouraging her students to reach their full potential. She is now in the running for the very prestigious Daughters of the American Revolution Virginia State History Teacher of the Year award. She won a local Chapter award for Beverly, which qualified her for the state award. Mrs. Goss stated: “it’s nice to receive recognition for her hard work and dedication.” She has always been passionate about history, which drove her to pursue a career in teaching. Her interest in Genocide and Holocaust was originally sparked when she read an emotional book about the Holocaust, and also when she met several Holocaust survivors. She would one day love to get her doctorate, and travel Europe seeking Holocaust survivors and tell their stories to the rest of the world. Until then, she truly loves inspiring her students to love history and to love life.
