Delaware Valley sent junior Jason Block, seniors Gabriella Cuevas, Julia Cuevas, Tyler Fuller and Jonathan Outwater to represent the school and perform at the 2017 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 10 Chorus Festival on Jan. 12-14 at Bangor Area High School.
The attendees auditioned and were chosen for the District 10 Chorus Festival in October. The five students from Delaware Valley auditioned against other students from a seven-county area.
“District 10 Chorus is a great festival with a great director and the kids reacted really well to it,” chorus director Mr. Richard Horst said.
At the District 10 Chorus Festival the students auditioned for Region Chorus, in addition Fuller and Outwater were chosen to attend the festival in Bethlehem in February. In addition to the accomplishment of advancing on to the Region Chorus Festival, Fuller came in first out of all of the auditions.
“I’m quite excited for Regional Chorus, it’s a wonderful experience to make music with musicians from other schools; it’s a great sense of camaraderie,” Fuller said.
Outwater was awarded the PMEA District 10 Scholarship at the festival, which is a scholarship that is presented to a talented high school senior with the ambition of pursuing music at the collegiate level.
“It was so fun, I think it was just so great to be surrounded by such great kids from the surrounding area. They were all leaders and it was great,” Block said.
