No matter what kind of dark place you're in, there is a light at the end.
To the one with depression,
I understand you don't even want to get up most mornings. Sometimes you feel as though life isn't even worth living. But I promise you, it is. Someday you will wake up in a home of your own. You'll get to get ready in the morning for a job that you love. You're not the only one out there who has this disorder. Look at all of the other people who've made it through these rough times. Of course, there is always the negative side of the statistic. Don't look to the dark side though, there is always a light in your life. Maybe it's a friend, a family member, or a pet who brings it to your life. Regardless of where it comes from, find it, and keep it close.
To the one with anxiety,
Some days you feel as though everyone is staring at you in the hallways. Every time you hear a laugh, or a giggle, you make sure your appearance is okay in fear of it being directed toward you. You question if your friends are really your friends. But, none of this is your fault. It's your disorder's, and you didn't chose to have it. You are a beautiful, inside and out. Anxiety does not define you. So don't let it control your life. You're stronger than this, regardless of where you're at in life. You have the ability to overcome this and anything else life throws your way.
To the one with PTSD,
Your past does not, and will never, define you. Everyone has one, but you don't have to hold onto it. I know that there are some things that are especially hard to let go of, but you can overcome it. Maybe you had problems in your family, at school, or at work. Maybe you lost a loved one, or some other traumatic event occurred. No matter what it was, you can work past it. Sometimes it may take a while, sometimes it will drain you, and take all of your effort away. But, I promise you it’s worth it. You’ll be much happier after you work past your fears of the past. Sometimes it will take help from others, but you can do it.
To the one with an eating disorder,
It’s likely that you don’t feel beautiful in your own body. Maybe you have a form of body dysmorphia, or another disorder accompanying this one. That makes eating disorders one of the most difficult kind to overcome. But, you can do it. Anyone can do anything they put their mind to. You’re strong, you’re beautiful, you’re talented, and you’re worth so much more than you believe. Whether you’re battling bulimia, anorexia, or something otherwise not otherwise specified. No matter what it is, you can, like everyone else get through it. Don’t be afraid to ask for help from a professional, or someone else who has been through the same thing as you.
