January 20, 2008, President-Elect Barack Obama was sworn in as the president of the United States. 

Husband of Michelle  and father of Malia Ann  and Sasha, Obama brought his family into the White House along with him. Here he raised a family and a nation. During Obama's eight-year term he is considered a man of accomplishments. 

After entering office Obama ended the 2008 recession. His $787 billion economic stimulus package is approved by congress. Taxes were lowered and unemployment benefits, or unemployment compensation, become more available to individuals. 

October of 2009, Obama received a Nobel Peace Prize for "...his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples." He withdrew troops in 2011. He reduced the U.S. nuclear warhead stockpile by 10 percent, according to "the balance".

Obamacare, also known as the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was introduced to the nation in March of 2010. The ACA's purpose was to provide health insurance for US citizens. An estimated 22.8 million individuals have Obamacare. 

Osama Bin Laden, the founder of al-Qaeda, was eliminated by Navy Seals in May of 2011. Following this event, Obama withdrew American troops from the Iraq war to protect civilian and military efforts with Iraq. 

After serving his first term, Obama won the 2012 re-election against opponent Mitt Romney by 126 electoral votes.

Obama led global efforts to finalize the International Climate Agreement (ICA). The ICA became an arrangement to be more considerate and cautious of climate change. Countries settled to reduce carbon discharges and proliferate carbon trading. 

An estimated 17.2 million jobs became available during Obama's eight years in office, thus making him the second-highest job creating president abutting Bill Clinton, who created around 21.5 million job opportunities. 

Today, January 20 of 2017, President Barack Obama will no longer be the president of the US.
