Although 2023 so far has been chalked full of new and intriguing films such as “Ant-man Quantumania” and “Creed lll” there is also a plethora of biopic films that will be released in the upcoming months. Biopics are dramatized versions of the much-loved biography style of the film focusing on one person or event in detail. 

One film that average moviegoers and critics are most excited about is “Oppenheimer”. The film is based on the 2005 book “American Prometheus” written by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin, The book was based on J. Robert Oppenheimer an American physicist who played a crucial role in the Manhattan Project and is known by many as the “father of the atomic bomb”. The film includes numerous movie stars such as Cillian Murphy as the titular Robert Oppenheimer, along with other stars such as Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr, and Matt Damond. 

Another of the many historical biopic films coming out this year is Napoleon. The film stars Joaquin Phoenix as the acclaimed Napoleon Bonaparte and describes in detail his rise to power. The film will be shown through the eyes of Napoleon’s wife Josephine and will exhibit their often addictive and volatile relationship. 

Accompanying the handful of films mentioned is a biopic featuring the creation of the popular game Tetris. The film will follow Jesse Garcia as the title character Richard Montañez.

Another commendable biopic that will be released this year is “Unfrosted: The Pop-Tarts Story”. The film will follow the much-acclaimed comedian Jerry Sienfeld as the creator of the Pop Tart during his struggles to create the warm snack. The cast will also include heartthrob James Marsden and actress Melissa Macharthy. 

Back in 2023 with the lack of business due to the Coronavirus, the praised business of Gamestop was running dangerously close to bankruptcy. However, surprisingly, a plethora of people over the internet was able to greatly improve the stock of Gamestop through the social media app Reddit. This film will showcase Wall Street during the surprise of Gamestop’s stock rising exponentially. This film will feature A-list actors such as Seth Rogan, Pete Davidson, Sebastian Stan, and Paul Dano. 

For many years the Grateful Dead has been followed by many fans around the world. This upcoming year will show a new biopic that will showcase the start and success of the band many have grown to love. Masterful director Martin Scorsese who has made films such as “Taxi Driver” and “The Wolf of Wall Street” is going to be the mind behind the film. Scorsese is utilizing actor Jonah Hill in this film for his distinguishable skill in most different roles.
