Everybody should have an opportunity to get all dressed up and have the best night ever. The Cloud 9 Celebration is a way for individuals with special needs to party the night away.
The Cloud 9 Celebration is a prom for individuals with special needs in our community and surrounding areas. The dance is part of the “Night to Shine” organization made famous by former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow. Coordinator Amber Stary says, “This is a local event effort with the goal of connection within our community.”
Every individual signed up to go to prom is assigned a buddy. These buddies will stay right by each others’ side all night to make sure they are comfortable and having fun. There are other volunteer options other than being a buddy such as party bus help, hair and makeup help and dining room help. As of now, there are 215 individuals signed up for the prom and 317 volunteers.
The biggest “hits” of this celebration, according to the party-goers are the dance, the dinner and the party bus, but the most fun to them is the red carpet. Similar to a Hollywood red carpet event, party-goers get pictures and videos taken of them showing off their best looks.
Much help is still needed to make this celebration the best one yet, so if you would like to volunteer, reach out to Amber Stary, look at the Cloud 9 Celebration Facebook page, or visit www.cloud9celebrations402.com online.
