Columbus Basketball has Shown Big Breakthroughs

The Columbus High School Basketball teams have had a rocky season so far. Though their records weigh more heavily on losses than wins, the boys and girls on these teams keep showing determination across the board and staying motivated throughout their games.
Despite not having many wins, the wins certainly stand out - particularly the Maroon Cup matchups against the rival Norfolk Panthers. On December 29, 2022, the boys put together a 69-59 win. Similarly, the boys and girls both took on the Panthers in spooky double-header fashion on Friday the 13 in NHS’s home gym. Columbus swept the event, 46-39 in boys action and 52-37 in girls.
The Discoverer boys took another rivalry win from the visiting Fremont Tigers. The Discoverers stomped a mudhole in the Tigers and walked it dry en route to a 63-42 win. However, the girls were not triumphant and suffered a 41-35 loss.

If you have not had the chance, you are still able to watch the Discoverers play. Coming up, are home games against the Grand Island Islanders on February 3, 2023, and the Lincoln Southwest Silverhawks on February 4.
