The CHS Student Council is a group of elected and volunteer students who work together to encourage leadership and facilitate student/faculty/community relations.
Valerie Wallin and Shannon McDonald run "StuCo." Their most important goal as sponsors for this organization is to create leadership opportunities to benefit students and the community. Student Council's leadership team creates an agenda and presents it at each monthly meeting.
The biggest yearly event Student Council runs is Winter (In)Formal. Those two letters revived a once-dying event and allowed students to attend the dance however they are most comfortable. They also filled one of the gyms with games, prizes and other fantastic activities for the non-dancing crowd.
Other Student Council-sponsored events include the Back to School Palooza, Ironman Volleyball, Trunk or Treat and, most recently, a Movie Night featuring a "Top Gun" double-feature.
Some upcoming events Student Council is sponsoring is cookie decorating with The Cassette House, Powder Puff Football, and as mentioned before, Winter (In)Formal.
If you would like to show off your leadership skills, make new friends and help your peers, look into joining Student Council next year. Keep an eye out towards the end of the year for a form if you are interested.
