Be Bold With Your Blankie
Olivya Thege
Are you that person that still cherishes your childhood blanket or stuffed animal? Well, guess what? Me too! And we're not alone! According to "Shape Magazine," 40% of adults still sleep with their childhood blanket or stuffed animal. I mean, what can I say? Something about still having your childhood blanket or stuffed animal makes adds a comfort unmatched by other, less sentimental textiles. We can all agree that if we lost our blankies or teddies, we would go insane until they were safely returned to our arms.
While some of ya'll have the audacity to look at blankets and stuffed animals like they're nothing, some of us over here struggle without our blankets and stuffies. When life puts us in a crunch, the value of these precious momentos from childhood knows no bounds. Not to be silly or anything, but I tend to go to my blanket for relief the same way one might go to aspirin to relieve a headache. I can't be the only one who comes home from school, practice or work, grabs my blanket, and proceeds to unwind from the day. So what do you haters gain by taking that away from us?
The best part is there is no limit to the different ways to show love to our blankets and stuffies. For instance, most people like to fidget, sniff or just lay with their kinder-hood keepsake. Others like to break them out to provide company during a movie, warmth for an afternoon nap or flair to a lifeless room in their homes. However it's done, no one should make you feel bad for sticking by your soothing souvenir if it makes you happy.
To all, you blankie and stuffie lovers just know you are not alone. I know savoring a childhood blankie or stuffie is not everyone's motive, but that does not mean you should hate someone who does. Long story short, everyone has their own array of childhood treasures.
